چکیده

100% and pansinusitis. They needed antibiotic scheme. At 2 years in 83.3% had a VAS.7. At 58.3% had pansinusitis. The bronchial relapse did not increase. We determined the presence of VAS. 7 and pansinusitis (OR 1⁄4 4). The bronchial relapse did not influence with increasing VAS (OR 1⁄4 1). Conclusions: Nasal symptoms persistent were secondary to the nasal polyps and pansinusitis with higher levels of VAS. It was determinated a 4-fold risk over pansinusitis with a VAS. 7 (OR 1⁄4 4). It should be stressed the palliative surgical treatment in earlier stages and desensitization protocols.

Intranasal lysine-aspirin administration decreases polyp volume in patients with aspirin-intolerant asthma.

INTRODUCTION Nasal polyposis associated with aspirin-intolerant asthma tends to be difficult to control, with frequent recurrences. We examined the effect of intranasal lysine-aspirin administration on resistant nasal polyps of asthmatic, aspirin-intolerant patients, when used in addition to routine therapy. PATIENTS AND METHODS Thirteen patients with asthma and intolerance to aspirin were re...

Audit of nasal lysine aspirin therapy in recalcitrant aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease

BACKGROUND Aspirin - exacerbated respiratory disease can prove difficult to control. Oral aspirin desensitization is effective, but has adverse effects and may not be cardio-protective at the high doses needed. OBJECTIVE To examine the effectiveness of aspirin administered in lower doses via the nose. METHODS An audit of 121 patients with aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD), 105 ...

Montelukast protects against nasal lysine-aspirin challenge in patients with aspirin-induced asthma.

Aspirin-induced asthma (AIA) is associated with increased production of cysteinyl leukotrienes (CysLT). Although leukotriene CysLT1-receptor antagonists improve lower airway outcomes in AIA, their effects and dose-response in the upper airway is less well documented. The present study evaluated the dose-response for montelukast (ML) against nasal lysine-aspirin challenge in patients with AIA. A...

Nasal lysine aspirin challenge in the diagnosis of aspirin - exacerbated respiratory disease

BACKGROUND Aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease is under-diagnosed and therefore effective and inexpensive therapy with aspirin desensitization is rarely performed. METHODS We present an audit of 150 patients with difficult to treat nasal polyposis, 132 of whom also had asthma, 131 of whom underwent challenge with the only soluble form of aspirin, lysine aspirin (LAS), to confirm or exclud...

Increased levels of cysteinyl-leukotrienes in saliva, induced sputum, urine and blood from patients with aspirin-intolerant asthma.

BACKGROUND A diagnosis of aspirin-intolerant asthma requires aspirin provocation in specialist clinics. Urinary leukotriene E(4) (LTE(4)) is increased in aspirin-intolerant asthma. A study was undertaken to investigate new biomarkers of aspirin intolerance by comparing basal levels of cysteinyl-leukotrienes (CysLTs) and leukotriene B(4) (LTB(4)) in saliva, sputum and ex vivo stimulated blood in...
